Speaking at the UK Parliament on Tuesday, Wylie said the Congress was one of the political parties in India that had used the services of the tainted company Cambridge Analytica. "This is what modern colonialism looks like", he wrote.

Cambridge Analytica said the documents did not support whistleblower Christopher Wylie's testimony to the committee this week.

CA/SCL has a database of over 600 districts and seven lakh villages in India and it helps "clients to identify and target key groups within the population to effectively influence their behaviour to realise the desired outcome", the pictures shared by him read.

Appearing before the United Kingdom parliament on Monday, Wylie had said in response to a British lawmaker's question on SCL's involvement in India, "I believe their client was Congress but I know that they've done all kinds of projects, both regional- I don't think they've done, I don't remember a national project but I know regionally". "Who was the NRI businessman who hired Cambridge Analytica in the run-up to 2014 polls to manufacture false surveys, to ask leading questions and to bring down the government?", Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said, according to the Economic Times. Wylie, on Tuesday, stated that he believed "Congress was a client" of CA. "I don't remember a national project but I know regionally", he was quoted as saying.

Two of the other directors (both Indians) Avneesh Kumar Rai and Amrish Tyagi did election-related work before 2011-2012 and have gone on to state that SCL often took credit for their electioneering experience in India while pitching to domestic and foreign clients.

Wylie was speaking to the committee about his role at Cambridge Analytica, the data analysis firm at the center of Facebook's latest controversy. These former staff members each signed an undertaking promising that they had deleted all such material.

Instead, data aggregators falling under Partner Categories supplement companies with data they may not otherwise have, helping marketers and Facebook target users better.

After the Channel 4 report came out Wednesday, Andy George, who ran the Senate Majority Fund when it used Cambridge Analytica, told KMGH that neither he, nor anyone on his team, had access to the Cambridge Analytica data.

Colorado Democratic Party Chair Morgan Carroll on Wednesday called for Colorado Attorney General Cynthia Coffman to investigate Cambridge Analytica's role in the state's 2014 elections, suggesting Colorado was "the guinea pig" in the company's "experiment" involving USA elections.

On Friday, Middle East Eye revealed that the Ministry of Defence had held a contract for data analytics with SCL Insights which ran from December last year to February this year.

But Nikhil Pahwa, a technology expert, said that signs that the company worked in India are worrying. "We shall use it, including summoning you in India", Prasad had said.

He later added that while influencing elections in developing countries was not overly profitable the company would make its real money by introducing government ministers to businessmen in what he called a "privatized colonizing operation". Although Facebook said that it stopped the practice that allowed the Trump-linked firm to collect so much personal data from the platform, the episode highlighted popular unease about the site's obtuse privacy settings and vulnerability to scammers, fake news merchants, and other bad actors.

Chief executive and founder Mark Zuckerberg has apologised for the mistakes the company made and said he is committed to cracking down on abuse of the Facebook platform.
