Trump has spoken privately with advisers about funding the border's construction using the US military budget, according to CNN.
Trump reportedly floated the idea during a meeting with House Speaker Paul Ryan last week at the White House following the passage of an omnibus spending bill that did not include funding for the border wall.
Trump ended an early Sunday morning tweet detailing the wealth of the military and the necessity of the border wall with "Build WALL through M!"
For the reallocation of budget, Trump will have to get approval from the Congress - which he is not likely to get.
But the report added that Trump remains determined to build the border wall and fulfill hiscampaign promise, leading to disappointment that he could not receive funding in a spending bill he signed on Friday after briefly threatening to veto it. But Gallego argued it was needed as a pre-emptive measure since Trump could look to Defense Department coffers when he had trouble getting Mexico to pay for the wall, as he promised. In another meeting, Trump told his advisers that that the military could obviously afford paying for the wall because the latest budget included so much money for the Pentagon.
As the Washington Post reported, Trump has suggested to Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and leaders in Congress that the construction of the border wall would address a "national security" risk and that the Pentagon should pay for it.

However, the Department of Homeland Security is still evaluating prototypes for construction of that wall and no new sections have been built, said Carlos Diaz, a spokesman for US Customs and Border Protection.
Gallego's amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) a year ago was seen as largely symbolic since there had been no proposal to use Pentagon funding for the wall.
"We can't allow Donald Trump to steal already-limited resources from our troops to fund a pointless border wall that will serve little other goal than to satisfy his own fragile ego", Rep. "You could always increase them and take the revenue for that for resources", the same official said, who also described these options as Trump's "musings".
Last week, Trump expressed displeasure with the funding agreement and threatened briefly not to sign it, but ultimately relented and then continued to express his displeasure on Twitter.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders declined to weigh in when asked repeatedly on Tuesday at the daily press briefing about trying to get the military to fund the wall.
