Radio announcer dies in Canada bus crash

The RCMP continue their investigation into a deadly crash that they now say claimed the lives of fifteen people.

The North American hockey community was struggling to come to terms Saturday with the huge sorrow being felt following the horrific crash of a Canadian junior hockey team's bus that killed 15 people. Chow said, pausing for several seconds as he began to cry.

The Hawks' president, Darren Opp, told the Globe and Mail newspaper that the truck T-boned the players' bus.

Logan Schatz, 20, played for the Broncos for just over four years and had served as team captain for the past two-and-a-half years, according to his father.

Many graduate to play at USA and Canadian colleges and major junior teams, while some go on to the National Hockey League.

News of the crash has shocked Canada, where ice hockey is a national sport and loved by many. A number of the players were from communities in surrounding provinces and across the country.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau tweeted his condolences to the families of the victims. "You keep track of them from the time they leave through their marriages, through their families and babies being born, through their careers", said Chilman. It's about family.
