  • Record Store Day 2018

Among special limited editions for Record Store Day April 21, 2018: 'Dylan & The Dead, ' a 1987 live recording, released in 1989, available in red and blue tie-dye vinyl.

In Bradford, the Record Café in North Parade was the only store involved in the event, and had music fans queuing out of the door to get their hands on exclusive music and also to enjoy a glass of real ale.

Those store owners and community supporters created Record Store Day in 2007 as a way of celebrating the grassroots movement that's allowed a once-dying medium to thrive.

"There's kind of a clubhouse mentality to a record store", said McGlothin, a customer and former owner of Speakertree Records. Be sure to get down to your local independent record store early as they'll only have a limited supply of each design! Here's a roundup of stores in the area that are participating in Record Store Day, as well as some events happening around town.

This Record Store Day, East Nashville's neighborhood record shop, The Groove, is teaming up with ACME Radio to provide live performances and food trucks throughout the day in the stores "backyard". This year's slate includes a 7-inch yellow vinyl single release of Led Zeppelin singles "Rock and Roll"/ "Friends" and the Car Seat Headrest release "Twin Fantasy", which is limited to 4,000 copies.

Speakertree is Lynchburg's only local record store and has been in business almost 10 years.

Over the past nine years since Record Store Day was instituted, cities across the country have declared it an official holiday.

With that being said, Gederberg has requested the releases of Johnny Cash's "At Folsom Prison" five-album box set, Prince's "1999", The Police's "Roxanne" as well as many other collector's edition records and special releases.

Bela, Martha Karolyi Deny Knowledge of Larry Nassar Abuse at Training Ranch
Nassar was already established in the program when Martha Karolyi took over the national team. "He got what he wanted". This is the first time the couple is speaking out since USA Gymnastics cut ties with the training facility in January.

"It has grown ridiculously over the years and we have actually had people with lawn chairs outside waiting for us to open at 10 a.m.", said Bayliss.

"I love it when older couples wander around, and they pick [a record] up and say, 'Remember when we used to dance to this song?' Vinyl is very nostalgic to different times", he said.

McGlothin owned the store from 2012 to 2014 but still goes by the shop at least once a week.

The bar is open until midnight today, with live music and records on sale until the bar closes.

"It has a tangible quality", he said. In that time, record sales have been increasing. They'll come in here, and they'll hear music playing.

McGlothin won't be surprised to see Speakertree packed with people for the first few hours Saturday morning.

The day is a celebration of the brick and mortar store, and the atmosphere is festive.
