Seahawks Are Wary of Colin Kaepernick

  • Kaepernick won't stop kneeling?

Kaepernick's cancelled workout with the Seahawks comes a week after Texans owner Bob McNair said that he regretted apologizing for his comment made past year at meetings between players and owners to discuss protests during the national anthem.

Kaepernick famously began sitting out national anthems in 2016, in protest over the United States government's treatment of people of color domestically and overseas. "I think it had an effect on a lot of teams and players".

Kaepernick has not played since the 2016, though he is still a free agent and can be signed by any team.

The team wants a firmer plan from Kaepernick about all of his off-field activities, including but not limited to kneeling for the anthem, and how that might impact football, according to the Seattle Times.

Seattle is still considering bringing in Kaepernick for a workout.

South Africa bids emotional farewell to 'Mama Winnie' Mandela
The Soweto Gospel Choir sang several songs and led mourners in singing the national anthem at the start of the service. Mandela was referencing the white residents of those neighbourhoods who she still considered the opposition.

"Should amend this to say Smith sat on the bench during the anthem, he didn't kneel (before PHI game on SNF). But it's a situation here where Colin Kaepernick was going to come in there and work out there and now he's not". It also comes a day after Eric Reid's free agent visit with the Bengals took a turn, when owner Mike Brown asked Reid if he planned on kneeling during the national anthem.

Per Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times, the Seahawks will hold internal talks about potential backup options at quarterback, but they could still consider signing Kaepernick in the future.

The NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirmed that's what his sources were saying, and added that the lawsuit might've also been part of the conversation and that the story from the team and from Kaepernick's camp differed. The protest drew both criticism and support, and gained widespread attention over the course of the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.

Colin Kaepernick is in the middle of a collusion case against the NFL over allegations that league owners have blackballed him.
