  • Mumbai Indians chose to bowl against Kings XI Punjab as they looked to stay alive in the IPL 2018 tournament

Mumbai Indians defeated the Kolkata Knight Riders by 13 runs as they still stay alive in the race of playoffs in this year's IPL.

The win sees the Indians move up to fifth, two points outside the play-off places with four matches remaining, while the Knight Riders are in third with 10 points.

MI won the game by 13 runs after restricting KKR to 168 for six. This was also MI's seventh consecutive win over KKR.

Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav (59 off 39) and Evin Lewis (43 off 28) provided Mumbai a rapid start of 91 off 56 before Kolkata hit back through Russell (2-12) and Narine (2-35).

Klopp tells Salah to stop diving, but backs him to rediscover form
I am really proud of the boys to be honest; "proud" is the word because, again, they really invested everything. Everything else is absolutely OK. 3-0 win, enjoy the sun, then forget about Brighton and prepare for the final.

SuryaKumar then tried to build another partnership with Pandya however, after adding 21 runs, the opener too, became a victim of Russell in the 15th over with the Mumbai scorecard reading 127/3.

But his opening partner, West Indian Evin Lewis has disappointed and will need to step up against KKR whose spin trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Piyush Chawla and Sunil Narine can be very unsafe. Captain Rohit Sharma continued to struggle, and Hardik (35 off 20) was the only one to make a meaningful contribution, even within the whimsical parameters of batting in this format. Hardik Pandya's excellent batting towards the end along with superb bowling helped Mumbai Indians win this important match.

And, when Krunal took a good catch to get rid of the unsafe Russell to give Jasprit Bumrah his first scalp of the day, the visitors were left needing 43 off their final three overs. Uthappa who was dropped by Mayank Markande on four went on to score 54 runs off 35 balls before giving his wicket to Markande. As it went to bat first, MI made 181 runs at the cost of 4 wickets.

Andre Russell and Sunil Narine bowled well for KKR, scalping 2 wickets each. Pandya Jr is the first to be promoted when skipper Rohit Sharma needs quick runs to finish. After them, Robin Uthappa played a wonderful knock of 54 runs at number 3 who got good support from Rana (31) who was making his comeback. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Krunal Pandya, who bowled the last over, fared much better than the Sri Lankan bowlers at the Khettarama to ensure Mumbai registered its second home victory of the season.

Soon, Hardik landed another blow on Kolkata, sending Rana back to the dug out in the 14th over with Kolkata reeling at 115/4.
