The Brazil worldwide - who is likely to play a key role for the Selecao at this summer's World Cup - was reportedly close to signing for Manchester City back in January but it appears the Red Devils have won the race for the 25-year-old's signature.

Speaking at a news conference on Thursday, Fred said he was yet to decide his next move - and will now wait until after Russian Federation 2018 to make an announcement.

"Talks have been at an advanced stage since January, if I am not mistaken", he told ESPN FC. "There was a possible transfer to City".

"My agents are taking care of this, led by Gilberto Silva". My family is always well informed, too.
