Israel has posted Iron Dome short-range air defences on the Golan, local media said, suggesting that the anticipated attack could be by ground-to-ground rockets or mortars.

A spokesman for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said earlier the Iranian Quds forces had fired at least 20 missiles at Israel's forward positions on the Golan Heights shortly after midnight on Thursday.

After 10 hours together, Netanyahu said he conveyed Israel's obligation to defend itself against Iranian aggression.

Amos Gilead, a retired senior Israeli defense official, told a security conference in the coastal town of Herzliya that Iran's intentions in Syria meant a wider conflagration may only be a matter of time.

The White House said, "The Iranian regime's deployment into Syria of offensive rocket and missile systems aimed at Israel is an unacceptable and highly risky development for the entire Middle East".

Syrian air defences fired at two Israeli missiles, destroying both, SANA said.

Israel took control over the Golan Heights that had belonged by Syria from 1944 after the Six-Day War in 1967. The latest attack, carried out on May 9, claimed the lives of seven Iranians in the Syrian air force base T4.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also confirmed the missiles strikes and said Israeli planes were flying over the Queintra area. The confrontation came two days after the United States announced its withdrawal, with Israel's urging, from a nuclear accord with Iran.

Norman Howell won two Emmys for his stunt coordination and Andre Braugher earned three Emmy nominations for playing Captain Holt. Its return scored the season's second largest audience - even higher than its winter finale episode.

According to a pro-Syrian regime news outlet called al-Mayadeen, any further strikes will be met by "larger" attacks on Israel.

"We hit. nearly all of the Iranian infrastructure in Syria", Lieberman said at the annual Herzliya security conference near Tel Aviv.

Iranian forces moved into Syria after the outbreak of the Syrian civil war in 2011 to back the forces of President Bashar Assad. Israel responded by attacking anti-aircraft positions in Syria, but an Israeli warplane was shot down during the battle.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday hailed U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from an global nuclear agreement with Iran, saying it had been a "recipe for disaster".

In his announcement, Trump cited Israel's publication last week of what it said was a trove of seized, secret Iranian documents showing Tehran had a past nuclear weapons program.

The Syrian Observatory for Human rights said 15 people, including eight Iranians, were killed in that attack.

Israel's military went on high alert Tuesday and bomb shelters were ordered open in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights following reports of "irregular activity of Iranian forces in Syria". Israel has warned that it will not allow Iran to establish a permanent military presence in Syria. "They are determined to do it and we are determined to prevent it".
