Reportedly Has Suspect In Biggest CIA Leak Ever, But No Charges

Federal investigators suspect a former CIA employer is responsible for giving top secret CIA documents to Wikileaks past year, which resulted in the agency's biggest leak of classified information.

On Twitter, an inactive "pedbsktbll" account followed only 27 users, including two connected to people identified as Mr. Schulte's family members, Motherboard reported.

A former Central Intelligence Agency engineer has been identified as the suspect behind the largest leak of classified documents in Central Intelligence Agency history.

The leak, which was referred to as "Vault 7", was one of the largest in United States history, but in August, prosecutors separately charged Schulte with possession of child pornography - agents apparently found 10,000 images on a server he built as a business in 2009 while at university in Austin, Texas.

Schulte worked in the CIA's Engineering Development Group, which produced malware used to break into the computers of terrorism suspects and other targets.

USA government officials are looking into a former CIA employee for his possible role in leaking a trove of the agency's cyber espionage tools to WikiLeaks.

Although the victim was unconscious and unable to identify the perpetrator, prosecutors in Loudoun county said an analysis of Schulte's hands confirmed he was the person committing the assault. What they allegedly found instead, however, was a large collection of child pornography on a server he maintained. Part of the investigation "is analyzing whether and to what extent TOR was used in transmitting classified information", Laroche said in court to Judge Paul Crotty.

In lieu of evidence tying Schulte to Vault 7, Schultz is now being held on child pornography charges, for which he has pleaded not guilty. Schulte said 50 to 100 people had access to the server, created to share movies and other files.

Europe, Iran seek to save nuclear deal after USA pullout
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said the meeting had been a good start, but he wanted to see guarantees materialize. German exports to Iran totalled almost €3bn (£2.6bn) in 2017, while French exports soared from €562m in 2015 to €1.5bn in 2017.

The CIA declined to comment.

Schulte said in the statement that he joined the intelligence community to fulfill what he saw as a patriotic duty to respond to the attacks of September 11, 2001.

He said suspicion of him is based in his report of "incompetent management and bureaucracy [at the CIA]" and the fact that he appeared to be the "only one to have recently departed [EDG] on poor terms".

He also said that because of 'unfortunate circumstances the Federal Bureau of Investigation ultimately made the snap judgement that (he) was guilty of the leaks and targeted (him)'.

Schulte said he had also been planning a vacation with his brother to Cancun, Mexico, which may have given the appearance that he was trying to flee the country.

Schulte's defense attorney said in court that the government's reasoning used to obtain search warrants for Schulte's property were "just flat inaccurate and not true". Following the search of his apartment in March 2017, prosecutors waited six months to bring the child pornography charges.

Laroche said he disagreed with Schulte's lawyer at the time, who claimed the search warrants had not yielded anything consistent with the material released by WikiLeaks. Laroche was actually describing a "characterization" by Schulte's attorneys and expressing disagreement.
