Rockets try to make quick work of Jazz

  • Donovan Mitchell Clint Capela

Now, on the brink of elimination facing a 3-1 deficit, the Utah Jazz will head back to Houston for Game 5. It wasn't the most convincing offensive performance from the Rockets. James Harden scored 24 points on 8-of-22 shooting. They've held the Rockets to under 50 percent shooting in all four games and the league's most prolific 3-point shooting team to just 33.5 percent from 3-point range and under 30 percent the last three games. Meanwhile, the defense played well enough for the offense not to matter.

As for the Jazz, they look cooked. The Houston Rockets are shooting 34.2 percent from beyond the arc and 79.2 percent from the free throw line. Mitchell, who finished with 25 points but missed 16 of his 24 shots and had more turnovers (three) than assists (two), was left to fend for himself with another guard down. So I just think it's disrespectful when they get the chance to do whatever they want to do.

The Jazz, already without starting point guard Ricky Rubio with a hamstring strain and forward Derrick Favors struggling with an ankle injury, were hit again when Exum limped off in extreme pain in the third quarter.

The Jazz have been outscored by an average of 7.0 points in their last five games.

Utah Jazz Center Rudy Gobert, the favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year, is known for being a defensive menace at the rim. As good as Gobert is defensively, even he will get caught in between assignments, leaving Utah's defense vulnerable to Houston's explosive offense. Where Capela has been able to hang with and actually effectively guard Donovan Mitchell and other Jazzmen on the perimeter in short spurts after switches, Gobert can not keep up with smaller guards when he's dragged out of the paint. But the Jazz hung around when things looked like they could be unfolding as they had two days earlier, when Houston led 70-40 at the break. "Give them credit they know how to control a game, in spite of that, we took shots and kept coming and kept coming and eventually couldn't get over the hill".

At least 23 labourers were killed and several others suffered injuries when two coal mines caved in near Quetta on Saturday. In the second mine collapse, seven miners were killed in Sooranj area, also near Quetta.

Kevin Durant was too hot for the New Orleans Pelicans to handle in game 4.

The Jazz hung tough in the third quarter, but the biggest blow wasn't delivered by their adversaries, but rather a truly unfortunate injury to Dante Exum.

This is Paul's fifth appearance in the conference semifinals after losing to the Spurs 4-3 in 2008 while with New Orleans, being swept by San Antonio in 2012 with the Clippers and losing 4-2 to the Thunder with that team before that 2015 debacle against the Rockets.

Utah's backs are against the wall entering Game 5, down 3-1, but the team will continue to fight. The change initially didn't look good offensively - Utah didn't make a field goal for almost four minutes to begin to game - but eventually the offense began to come around later in the quarter. If there's anyone besides Mitchell who's capable of putting together a huge fantasy night, it's Jingles. Capela, in many ways, is Houston's X-factor.
