Jordan declined the final year on his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday that would have paid him just over $24 million had he opted in.

While the Clippers wait for center DeAndre Jordan to decide on his player option for next season, they have given his representative permission to speak with the Dallas Mavericks about a trade, according to several National Basketball Association executives who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

Dallas reportedly had a strong interest in signing Lakers restricted free agent forward Julius Randle, but that would appear to be dead at this point. The team possesses two of the top six players in the league (Steph and KD), as well as stars like Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

This is Jordan's second turn at free agency. He has averaged at least 13.6 rebounds per game in each of those seasons, as well.

Jordan averaged 12 points and a career-high 15.2 rebounds per game this past season.

Lewis Hamilton relieved but puzzled with French GP pole position
Mercedes brought an upgraded power unit to Le Castellet and Hamilton, who has yet to win in France, has been consistently quick. Another driver on somewhat of a high is Fernando Alonso, albeit not because of his faltering McLaren.

No deal can become official until July 6. He will make close to $24.1 million in 2018-19, the report says.

For five consecutive seasons from 2012-13 to 2016-17, Jordan led the National Basketball Association in field goal percentage and effective field goal percentage.

- Marc Stein (@TheSteinLine) June 30, 2018Such a move would require Jordan to take a deal starting at the taxpayer midlevel exception of $5.3 mil - which would cost the Warriors more like $27 mil next season.

Since the change of heart by Jordan, the most productive center for the Mavericks was their immediate replacement - Zaza Pachulia in 2015-16.

Jordan can officially sign after the moratorium period ends Friday.
