Friday will see a 30 percent chance of showers after noon, with a high near 86 degrees.

According to NWS-W, the large-scale weather pattern affecting the area will favor below normal temperatures and above normal precipitation late this week through early next week.

Take advantage of Friday because another cold front will approach the region in time for the weekend and will linger around for several days.

Like Monday, storms will take advantage of plentiful tropical moisture and produce rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour.

Highs will tumble into the rain-cooled 80s behind the front Thursday and stay there through this weekend.

Severe Weather Expected Tonight

A coastal storm that's bringing scattered thundershowers and gusty winds to Long Island overnight is kicking off an unsettled stretch that will see more chances for wet weather.

Monsoon moisture hasn't left the state, and that means rain chances are back across southern Colorado.

TRI-LAKES: High - 80s; Low - 50s.

Today: A few a.m. showers, scattered p.m. showers/storms.

We'll continue to monitor the storm potential closely and keep you updated! Highs will be in the upper 70s with more humid conditions. Storms should clear El Paso, Pueblo and western Las Animas counties generally after 5pm and move east and southeast to the Kansas border. Damaging wind gusts and hail would be the biggest threats in the strongest storms.
