Serena Williams powered to her 16th successive win at Wimbledon as the seven-time champion routed Bulgarian qualifier Viktoriya Tomova 6-1, 6-4.

In total, the eight-time champion lost just nine of 61 points on his serve and broke Lacko five times, including with a forehand victor to close out the match.

Certainly, not many here will be fooled by her world ranking of 181, least of all the player placed 46 spots higher in those standings, Tomova.

Another effortless topspin-loaded swing from Federer, which claimed the opening break of the second set, was followed by a 60-second service game to pull away with a 4-2 lead.

Wickmayer said she did not care how she was addressed. It's nice here because I had a later match.

"I couldn't win with a lot of match points, but I kept fighting and playing an aggressive game and finally it worked", Makarova said.

Federer fired three of those aces in a row to take the second set and he got his 15,000-strong Centre Court fan club gasping in astonishment as he produced a ridiculous backhand drop shot from behind the baseline.

"Also the grass helps me just a little bit to get a few more free points than what it would on some other surfaces".

With Wozniacki's exit, five of the top eight seeds in the women's draw are already out of the competition at SW19 by the third day.

Roger Federer just breezed into the third round of the 2018 Wimbledon Championships.

Swiss champion Roger Federer was at his best against Lukas Lacko, Serena Williams only needed 66 minutes to account for Viktoriya Tomova, while Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki battled flying ants in her mouth before crashing out against Ekaterina Makarova.

"I don't know. I don't know, " he began, before offering quite a list for someone who doesn't know.

Asked if her wealth of Wimbledon experience was a key factor, Venus said: "I´d love to have that extra advantage". Today's players have continued to smash stereotypes, as an increasing amount of tennis professionals have resorted to plant-based diets to fuel their career and improve their health.

"I wake up early, something I never did, to spend time with her".

Dutchwoman Kiki Bertens is also through with a 6-4, 6-0 result against Russian Anna Blinkova, but Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska is out following a 7-5, 6-4 loss to Czech Lucie Safarova.
