Almost 12 hours later on Monday afternoon, BART tweet-released photos of the suspect, 27-year-old John Cowell with the message, "RIP Nia Wilson".

He was peacefully arrested aboard an Antioch-bound train Monday night at the Pleasant Hill Station in Walnut Creek, about a dozen miles from Oakland.

Wilson was traveling on BART Sunday night with her older sisters - Latifa and Nishiya - when she stopped to help a woman struggling with a stroller exit a train at Oakland's MacArthur station. Officials have allegedly found surveillance footage of Cowell changing his clothes in a parking lot near the station. BART Police Chief Carlos Rojas said at a news conference that Cowell has been arrested over the years for a "series of violent offenses", which he did not detail.

In a "prison-style attack", Cowell stabbed Nia Wilson twice in the neck and then attacked her sister before fleeing and apparently removing his trousers and sweatshirt to evade capture, Rojas said.

Prosecutors in Northern California say a paroled robber faces murder and attempted murder charges in the attack at a subway station against two sisters that left one of them dead.

"I looked back, and he was wiping off his knife and stood at the stairs and just looked", she said.

Stevens' death is just one of three homicides on the BART system in a span of less than seven days.

A manhunt had been underway for Cowell since the Sunday night attack that killed Nia Wilson and wounded her sister on the platform at the MacArthur BART station.

"She was a lovely person inside and out, and she didn't deserve it", Monroe said. When asked how the suspect got back on BART, Rojas said public transportation is "very porous" and that Cower had evaded fare as recently as last week.

Pakistan's political parties reject election results
Before official results arrived, PTI and Khan supporters took to the streets to celebrate the initial results on Wednesday night. Counting has been very slow, yet from the outset former cricket star Imran Khan and his party have maintained a commanding lead.

Nia's wound proved to be fatal and she died at the scene.

The Alameda County district attorney has charged John Lee Cowell with murder in Sunday's stabbing death of Nia Wilson, an 18-year-old black woman, in Oakland, California.

Her mother, Alicia Grayson, said Wilson took CPR classes and once saved her aunt's life using the Heimlich maneuver.

Official closed the station after the attack.

It all began Sunday night when Nia Wilson and her sisters did something they normally didn't do.

Authorities haven't supplied a motive for what they say appeared to be an unprovoked and possibly random attack.

Relative Malika Harris identified the woman who died as her sister, Nia Wilson, who had attended Oakland High. His image was captured on surveillance video.

The family has received an outpouring of support in Oakland and on the internet. VIDEO: What we know about the deadly Oakland BART stabbing " I don't know what it was but he was just always kind of a problem", said neighbor Carol Kincaid. Police sirens are heard blaring in the background as the crowd continues to viciously pummel the unnamed man. He also had a restraining order filed against him in 2016 by Kaiser Foundation for harassing an employee, and he had been sentenced to two years in prison later that year for using a box cutter during a robbery. "I hate to say that, but, you know, why would you choose two black girls?" Police released the identity of the suspect shortly after noon yesterday and his image was widely shared.
