Police say Jones threw a punch that killed a New York City tourist who knocked on his auto window thinking it was his Uber ride.

Jones, of Kernersville, North Carolina, turned himself in to police earlier Thursday. He appeared in court in New York City on Thursday and faces a third degree assault charge. He was arraigned today on a misdemeanor assault charge and released on his own recognizance after entering his plea.

Jamill Jones, 35, confronted Sandor Szabo, 35, for banging on cars at about 1:15 a.m. near 41-10 29th Street in Long Island City, the New York Post reported, citing sources.

Medical examiners will work to determine if Jones' punch was the cause of death.

He fell and hit his head on a sidewalk after he was punched on Sunday about 1am in Queens. According to multiple reports, Szabo knocked on multiple auto windows while looking for an Uber.

GOP Rep. Chris Collins charged with insider trading
The company's stock price fell more than 90 percent after results of the drug trial were released publicly, the documents state. Collins has denied any wrongdoing.

The man exited a white SUV and punched Szabo, leaving him bleeding on the ground, police said.

Wake Forest University tweeted a statement Thursday, saying, "We have just been made aware of this matter and we are gathering information".
