North Korea threatens to stall denuclearization in warning to US

North Korea's nuclear weapons program has caused worldwide tension for decades and the rhetoric and threats from Kim and Trump had been especially hostile before their June meeting.

The stark comments come after Trump and Kim's June meeting in Singapore, during which the White House said the North had made firm pledges to rid itself of its nuclear weapons.

Pyongyang also returned the remains of some U.S. soldiers killed in the 1950-53 Korean war in a gesture meant to break down mistrust between the countries, it said.

"As long as the USA denies even the basic decorum for its dialogue partner and clings to the outdated acting script which the previous administrations have all tried and failed, one can not expect any progress in the implementation of the joint statement including the denuclearisation", North Korea's foreign ministry said on Thursday.

A South Korean official at the Unification Ministry, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of office rules, said the two Koreas will also discuss on Monday ways to push through tension-reducing agreements made during an earlier summit between Kim and South Korean President Moon Jae-in.

Two South Korean under-15 teams, FC Gangwon and Yeoncheon Miracle, will compete in the Ari Sports Cup in Pyongyang.

Haley said Pompeo had delivered "solid" US demands to North Korea and that Washington would not weaken those or ease sanctions on Pyongyang.

China won't accept US trade 'blackmail' - state media
On Friday, the Ministry of Commerce described its planned response: four different types of tariffs on $60 billion of US goods. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, however, remained staunch on Washington's push for fairer trading conditions with China.

North Korea's top diplomat, Ri Yong Ho, visited Iran as the United States reintroduced sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Pyongyang insisted that the US should reciprocate to the North's suspension of missile launches and nuclear tests and other goodwill gestures such as the return of remains of American troops killed in the Korean War.

It will be held on the northern side of the truce village of Panmunjom and the Seoul government plans to reassemble a delegation headed by Unification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon for the occasion, according to the ministry.

It wasn't clear when another inter-Korean summit might happen, but if the April 27 summit agreements between Moon and Kim are followed through on, the leaders will likely meet in Pyongyang in the next couple of months.

A South Korean coach said the "rare opportunity" to play football in the North's capital would be a "great experience" for his players regardless of the end result.

The report said: "North Korea has not stopped its nuclear and missile programs and continued to defy Security Council resolutions". But Trump has already given Kim some concessions, including ending joint military drills with South Korea.

The announcement comes as the two Koreas work toward declaring an official end to the 1950-53 Korean War and eventually establishing a peace regime on the peninsula.
