  • Turkey deploys military vehicles to Syria

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan wrote an opinion piece for the Wall Street Journal this week that called on the global community to stop the Syrian Arab Army's (SAA) upcoming offensive in Idlib, Al-Masdar News reports.

"A regime assault [in Idlib] would also create serious humanitarian and security risks for Turkey, the rest of Europe and beyond", he added.

The UN also noted on Monday that 30,000 Syrians were displaced inside Idlib from their homes in northwest Syria after the Syrian government and allied forces resumed air and ground strikes this week.

Mr Black said Britain's MI6 intelligence service was planning a chemical weapons attack on the Syrian people, which it would then blame on Mr Assad.

Regarding the peace talks, de Mistura said earlier in Geneva that his discussions with the senior Russian, Turkish and Iranian officials taking place on September 10 and September 11 for the new process are the best "roadmap we can see". He also stressed the need to prevent civilian casualties.

"We strongly agree with President Erdogan", Karen Pierce told the UN Security Council citing an op-ed penned by Erdogan.

"With all our generosity, we have gone to extraordinary lengths to alleviate suffering of the Syrian people, hosting some 3.5 million refugees, more than any other country in the world".

Syria has the backing of Russia, Iran and Lebanon's Hezbollah resistance movement in its bid to rid the strategic province bordering Turkey of terrorists.

Swanson said that since Friday mortar and rocket attacks had increased, especially in the northern Hama countryside and southern Idlib rural areas.

Senior Turkish officials, who wished to remain anonymous, last week told MEE that Ankara feared that a new offensive in Idlib would disrupt its plans to send refugees now living in Turkey back to northwest Syria by the end of the year.

But he said Russia's President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan were working hard to find a solution.

Erdogan said that a focus on the potential use of chemical weapons alone was not enough. After more than seven years of civil war, they face a familiar choice - get away as fast as you can, or stay put and risk death.

Russia's foreign minister has submitted documentation based on "concrete facts" to the United Nations and the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons warning of a potential false-flag chemical weapons operation coming in Syria's Idlib province.

Haley said the Astana process has failed "to stop the violence or to promote a political solution".

"We have a military presence there and if that military presence is damaged or attacked in any way, it would be considered an attack on Turkey and would therefore receive the necessary retaliation", the source said.

"We had to make these masks to protect our women and children just in case", said the 27-year-old, who says he learnt how to make them by watching a video online.
