Ugly tie: Browns coach: Taylor, offense must ‘play better’

  • Denzel Ward and Kevin Zeitler celebrate after an interception in the Browns' and Steelers' 21-21 tie Sunday

They put together a frantic offensive flurry in the fourth quarter.

In a game with six turnovers forced by the defense, Cleveland still came away with just a tie.

The Steelers did not have running back Le'Veon Bell because of a hold out and the Browns have not won a game since Week 16 of the 2016 season at home against the San Diego Chargers.

The Browns also had a chance to win it in regulation and were driving for a potential game-winning field goal, but Tyrod Taylor's deep pass for Josh Gordon was underthrown and intercepted by Cameron Sutton with 16 seconds left.

Conner had 31 carries for 135 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Broncos receiver Demaryius Thomas and linebacker Brandon Marshall, and Seahawks linemen Duane Brown and Quinton Jefferson, retreated to their respective tunnels while the anthem played.

All things considered, Watt probably did his job better than anyone on the Steelers on Sunday. But the Steelers, who sacked Taylor seven times, refused to offer any excuses after falling dangerously close to becoming the first team to lose to the Browns in Week 1 since 2004.

"Tyrod got hit way too much", left guard Joel Bitonio said. Conditions were garbage and Week 1 is always wonky, but the Steelers offense couldn't break free from the Browns.

Open tennis tournament at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, in NY . When Osaka was announced the victor , the audience booed her, but Williams came to her defense.

Gordon had only three passes thrown his way against the Steelers, but made the most of his only reception.

Player holdouts are nothing new, of course, but what makes Bell's case different is that his teammates appeared genuinely shocked that he didn't return to Pittsburgh last week.

Defensive end Myles Garrett was a beast for the Cleveland Browns. In that game, he came out of the gate hot with two sacks and an interception. Quarterback Ben Roehtlisberger threw for 335 yards, but had three interceptions.

BREATHE EASY, WISCONSIN: Aaron Rodgers returned in the second half after being carted off the field with a knee injury and led the Packers back from a 20-0 deficit to a 24-23 win over the Bears.

Browns undrafted rookie left tackle Desmond Harrison had a long day.
