The Tadawul All-Shares Index (TASI) rose 4.3 percent to close trading on the last day of the week on 7,835.54 points.

On Thursday, the Saudi version of events shifted again, when the Saudi prosecutor said the journalist's murder was premeditated.

TASI, the largest Arab bourse, is 8.4 percent higher on the year.

The disappearance of the dissident writer and subsequent admission by Saudi authorities that he was killed inside the kingdom's Istanbul consulate has overshadowed the conference, billed as the "Davos of the Desert", which aims to portray Saudi as a modern economy and attractive business destination. Turkey's actions are making some wonder whether Prince Mohammed was involved in the killing, even though he publicly denounced it at an global meeting on Wednesday.

Turkish police were investigating water samples from a well at the consulate on Thursday after initially being denied access, broadcaster CNN Turk said.

Thursday's announcement comes days after CIA Director Gina Haspel traveled to Turkey and listened to audio purportedly capturing the journalist's murder, giving a key member of Trump's Cabinet access to the central piece of evidence Turkey has used to assert that the killing was planned.

While Saudi officials have said the crown prince, also known as MBS, had no knowledge of the plan to kill Khashoggi, this has left many unconvinced.

Turkish officials and some US lawmakers allege the crown prince ordered the operation in which Jamal Khashoggi killed.

President Trump has been briefed by CIA Director Gina Haspel on the latest in the USA investigation into how Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi was killed in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.

Salah Khashoggi's departure came after he was photographed on Tuesday with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during a condolence visit, staring coldly as the pair shook hands.

After more than two weeks of near silence, Saudi Arabia on Saturday admitted that Khashoggi was killed in its Istanbul consulate, saying it was an unauthorised operation - a claim other countries have rejected.

On Wednesday, the prince called the killing "heinous" and "painful to all Saudis" in his first extensive public remarks on the topic.

Asked by a reporter in the White House how the Khashoggi killing could have happened, Trump said: "They had a very bad original concept".

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said Thursday that while Turkey did not intend to initiate an investigation by an worldwide court, it would share information if one was launched. Turkey is conducting a separate investigation into the journalist's death.

"Ankara is taking all necessary steps to clear up the case of slain Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi", he added.

Shortly before Prince Mohammed took the stage at the Future Investment Initiative, he spoke to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the killing of Khashoggi.
