"Let's blame the Russians and demand an immediate apology from President Putin!" Bill Nelson is awaiting results against Republican challenger Gov. Rick Scott, Trump narrowly won the state by less than 1.5 percentage points. The Broward County ballot was designed so that the Senate race appeared in the lower left-hand corner, below the instructions, spurring the theory that many voters missed the contest. Scott leads incumbent U.S. Sen. Scott's lead earlier had been around 35,000 votes, or just under 0.5 percentage points.

Elias said it isn't "appropriate" for Scott to initiate a law enforcement investigation into vote counting when the governor is on the ballot as a candidate for Senate.

With the developments raising partisan tensions to fresh highs, Trump weighed in to allege a major corruption scandal was brewing, while fellow Republican Marco Rubio of Florida accused Democrats of a coordinated effort to "steal the election". Bill Nelson received 18,036 votes to Scott's 18,026.

Mr. Trump has raised the possibility of voter fraud in the past, after the 2016 elections, creating an entire commission to investigate it nationwide.

In fact, the most significant and clear error by Broward County election officials-designing a ballot that may have led more than 20,000 voters in an overwhelmingly Democratic congressional district to not vote in the Senate race at all-almost certainly benefited Scott.

Florida Department of Law Enforcement spokeswoman Gretl Plessinger said Scott did not submit his request in writing, and that no allegation of voter fraud in Broward has been sent to the Department of State, which oversees elections. Secretary of State Ken Detzner, a Scott appointee, will review the results and decide whether to order recounts.

Trump has a history of calling out fraud, without providing evidence to back up his claims.

"Rick Scott, who won by ― you know, it was close, but he won by a comfortable margin ― every couple of hours it goes down a little bit", Trump said before boarding Marine One to start his weekend trip to France. "I think that people have to look at it very, very cautiously".

Here's what a recount in Florida would look like
Senate and Florida Agriculture Commissioner - as well as a smattering of smaller races - all within a razor-thin margin. More than 8.2 million ballots were cast in Florida's election, according to the state Division of Elections web site.

Protesters have gathered outside the headquarters for the Broward County Supervisor of Elections as the county works to finish counting an unspecified number of votes from the midterm elections.

"It is obviously corrupt", Hannity said. "It is literally the best of democracy".

"They're doing due diligence, they're making sure they got it right", he said. Kemp had 50.3 percent of the votes on Thursday and could be forced into a runoff if his share of the vote drops below 50 percent. About this he wrote on November 9, Twitter.

WPLG-TV in Miami reported Snipes had a "testy exchange" with one of the station's reporters Thursday as the elections supervisor was asked about the status of the recount.

Although the delay is gaining national attention, Earley said this is the typical process for any election.

She noted that many jurisdictions across the country are still tabulating results as well. To see more, visit WLRN 91.3 FM.

The legal action comes as Nelson is headed toward a recount in his Senate race with Republican Gov. Rick Scott. But Abrams, the first African-American woman to be named a gubernatorial candidate in Georgia by either major party, has said she will not concede until every vote is counted.
