  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi shakes hands with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on the sidelines of G20 Summit in Argentina on Thursday

For the prince, it's about the killing of a dissident Saudi journalist in the country's Istanbul consulate.

The crown prince was filmed in an apparently tense conversation, telling the French president not to worry.

The pair discussed the murder of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul last month.

How are leaders greeting the Saudi Crown Prince?

Top officials from the administration of President Donald Trump have said they've seen no direct evidence linking the murder to Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, but the Central Intelligence Agency reportedly has found a connection.

As world leaders get down to business at the G20 in Buenos Aires, tensions over trade, security and climate change already threaten to leave it the third such multilateral meeting this year to fail to agree a joint communiqué, following in the footsteps of the G7 and APEC summits.

French President Emmanuel Macron told Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman on Friday that Europe would insist on global experts being part of the investigation into the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

In a video posted by the Saudi Gazette newspaper the two leaders can be seen speaking in hushed tones with their heads close together.

France reiterated its condemnation for all forms of terrorism across the world and demanded that such crimes should not go unpunished.

Another French official said Macron confronted bin Salman as soon as he saw him enter, calculating that it was better to address his concerns than to ignore them or shun the prince.

While at the G20 summit, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Theresa May have both reportedly had words with the prince.

Bin Salman told Macron not to worry, but Macron replied, "I am anxious".

Mattis and Pompeo urged senators to support the United States involvement in the war in Yemen, including assistance to Saudi Arabia.

U.S. intelligence, which has reportedly analysed an audio recording from inside the Saudi Arabian consulate, has concluded that MBS was behind the murder of Mr Khashoggi, an allegation which Saudi Arabia still denies.

Mr. Trump canceled his previously scheduled meeting with Putin on Thursday after he was briefed on the incident.

"They exchanged pleasantries at the leaders' session as he did with almost every leader in attendance", a senior White House official said.

The demonstrators also accused the G20 group of countries of concentrating too much on financial interests and globalization, while condemning austerity measures proposed by Argentina's government and backed by the International Monetary Fund, a dignitary at the summit.
