  • Roger Federer reveals what he will do in ten years

Hindered by a hip injury, the three-time grand slam victor announced Friday on the eve of the Australian Open that he will retire at Wimbledon in July - if he can make it that far.

"Pretty much done everything that I could to try and get my hip feeling better and it hasn't helped loads", he added.

He left his press conference in tears, a day after the Telegraph reported Murray looked like a shadow of his old self when he was soundly beaten by his childhood pal and the current world No. 1, Novak Djokovic, in a practice session at Melbourne Park.

Murray had right hip surgery in January 2018 after prolonged concerns with the joint.

Andy Murray is still hoping to make it to one more Wimbledon tournament before his problematic hip forces him into retirement.

While he intends to begin his opening round match against Roberto Bautista Agut at Melbourne Park next week, how his body withstands potentially five-set matches in energy-sapping heat remains to be seen.

AGP quits Assam alliance, no threat to BJP-led govt
Former chief minister Tarun Gogoi of the Congress said the AGP should join hands with other parties to protest against the Bill. The AGP had entered into an alliance with the BJP before the 2014 polls and was opposed to the Bill since the beginning.

He hasn't reached a Grand Slam final since winning his second Wimbledon title in 2016, but has nevertheless enjoyed a glittering career since turning professional in 2005, with not only three Grand Slam titles, but two Olympic gold medals and 45 ATP crowns. At 37, Federer is in Australia attempting to win the title for a third year running and for a seventh time overall.

There were no shocks with the announcements of the top seeds for the men's and women's singles tournaments at the Australian Open, with top-ranked Djokovic and Halep heading the seeds in their respective tournaments. The 32-year-old Nadal is ranked No. 2 in the world and confident of extending his career for several years despite injury problems of his own.

Murray deserves the sendoff at Wimbledon, likely the site of his greatest triumphs. Remarkable discipline for training, competition, sacrifice, perfection, a little insane but a legend of a bloke. "I've obviously been struggling for a long time", Murray said. "The pain is too much really, I don't want to continue playing that way".

"I spoke to my team and I told that I can't keep doing this, that I needed to have an end point because (I was) just playing with no idea when the pain was going to stop", he told the news conference Friday.

Murray added, becoming tearful again, "But I'm also not certain I'm able to do that".

I have an option to have another operation which is a little more severe than I had before, having my hip resurfaced, which will allow me to have a better quality of life and be out of pain.
