Last year's ceremony attracted its smallest recorded US TV audience with 26.5 million total viewers, down from 32.9 million in 2017. I had to address it when I did Get Hard promo with Will Ferrell because of that joke I had about my son.

Actor Harry Cook slammed DeGeneres for defending Hart.

"I think you have said a lot of wonderful things. I passed on the apology", said Hart in an Instagram video. The funnyman said he was "upset" by people's harsh reactions to his past offensive tweets and angered that the Academy gave him an ultimatum.

"But there were a few people who are anxious that the interview will be lighthearted and the talk show host won't ask tough questions".

Hart told her that when his old messages resurfaced, "what was once the brightest light ever just got real dark". Whatever is going on in the internet, don't pay attention to them.

It is not clear if Hart's apologies during the Ellen taping are enough, and the interview was been met with serious criticism from fans after the fact.

In the interview Hart says that he's previously apologised for the comments, and that's not who he is anymore, but as a result, the backlash against him took the shine off the Oscars job. The Oscars still don't have a host, but Ellen DeGeneres, one of the most prominent gay celebrities out there today, hopes that Hart will re-consider.

Govt stops printing new Rs 2,000 notes
He said the country has more than adequate such notes in the system with over 35 per cent of them by value in circulation. The high-value currency was introduced in November 2016, when the government scrapped the old 500/1000 bank notes.

DeGeneres, for her part, revealed that she called the Academy to ask its leaders to reconsider having Hart host the Oscars. I've yet to go back to that version of the immature version of the comedian that once was. Don't let them win this.

DeGeneres also tweeted: "I believe in forgiveness". I believe in second chances. "And I believe in Kevin Hart", the TV host wrote in a tweet. He has also made anti-gay comments in his standup act in the past. The comedian said he has since grown and has become more "cultured and manufactured".

DeGeneres used the hashtag #OscarsNeedHart while promoting the coming interview, implying that the Oscars needed Hart to return to his hosting duties.

None of that means, however, that Hart has no ambitions to stand upon the Oscars stage.

Hart, who announced his decision to pull out of the Oscars in December, said he was "evaluating" his options.

DeGeneres said that as a gay woman she understands the sensitivity around the subject because hateful language against someone's sexuality works to destroy the core of someone's humanity, contributing to suicide and death amongst the LGBTQ community.

In his historic tweets, Hart called gay people "fags", as well as using the term "gay" in a derogatory way, and mocked lesbians.
