  • Coma Patient in Phoenix Health Facility Gives Birth to Baby Boy

The baby was delivered healthy, a source told Arizona's Family.

The family obviously is outraged, traumatized and in shock by the abuse and neglect of their daughter at Hacienda Healthcare.

The Hacienda HealthCare facility in Pheonix, Ariz., is under fire after one of its patients, who has been in a vegetative state for at least a decade, gave birth on December 29.

Hacienda CEO Bill Timmons stepped down Monday, spokesman David Leibowitz said.

"We will continue to cooperate with Phoenix Police and all other other investigative agencies to uncover the facts in this deeply disturbing, but unprecedented situation".

The tribe confirmed the events surrounding the birth at Hacienda HealthCare in a press release obtained by ABC15, saying the patient "has been in a persistent vegetative state and coma for over a decade".

"[We're] already conducting a comprehensive internal review of our processes, protocols, and people to ensure that every single Hacienda resident is as safe and well cared for as possible".

"I can't believe that somebody would bathe her daily for nine months and never know that she wasn't having a period, that she [was] growing in her midsection, that nurses weren't keeping track" of her weight, the person said.

Karina Cesena, the mother of the victim, is now sleeping by her 22-year-old daughter's bedside until the attacker is arrested, reported KTVK.

AGP quits Assam alliance, no threat to BJP-led govt
Former chief minister Tarun Gogoi of the Congress said the AGP should join hands with other parties to protest against the Bill. The AGP had entered into an alliance with the BJP before the 2014 polls and was opposed to the Bill since the beginning.

In a statement, board member Gary Orman said Hacienda "will accept nothing less than a full accounting of this absolutely horrifying situation".

The woman said not one person reported the incident out of fear, adding that it is likely other forms of abuse took place over the years.

Given that the woman was in a vegetative state from a near-drowning incident and thus incapable of communicating consent or that she was pregnant, the pregnancy was clearly the result of sexual assault.

They declined further comment on Tuesday.

"I saw people disappear and never come back", she said.

A Phoenix police spokesman said that "the matter is now under investigation" but declined to give any further details of the case.

"During this time, the agency has required heightened safety measures be implemented at the facility including increased staff presence during patient interactions, increased monitoring of the patient care areas, and increased security measures with respect to visitors at the facility", said a spokesperson for the department.

Hacienda HealthCare, which tends to medically fragile children and young adults in Arizona has an admirable motto: "In special lives, we make a difference".

One staff member was sacked for making repeated inappropriate sexual comments to patients.
