  • Jake Thomas Patterson killed Jayme Closs parents before kidnapping her

Thousands of volunteers and hundreds of law enforcement officers had been searching around the clock for her after her parents were found shot dead in their home, the front door open and the girl gone.

Jayme was found on Thursday in the small town of Gordon, some 70 miles (112km) from her home in Barron.

Less than 15 minutes after Closs' rescue, Patterson was taken into custody after police pulled him over, based on Closs' description of his vehicle. He was jailed on suspicion of kidnapping and homicide.

Smart said in an interview that Closs' story is "why we can never give up hope on any missing child".

The investigation suggested that the suspect didn't know any family members at the home, nor had he been in touch with them, but allegedly went there with the objective of kidnapping the teen, Fitzgerald said.

Kasinskas said she knew of Patterson but didn't know him well.

"I'm happy to hear that Jayme is found alive and well, I'm happy for that", said Koua Lee, the brother of Hang Lee, who disappeared from St. Paul in 1993 when she was 17 and never has been found.

The sheriff said he didn't know whether Jayme had been physically abused. Even during the 88 days of captivity of Jayme - we still don't think that anybody assisted him in that. [But] he knew what he was doing.

"When we said she was found safe and alive, (there were) tears and lots of hugs", Fitzgerald said.

Roseanna Marie Forcum last was seen in St. Paul in 1998 when she was 15.

St. Paul police say they have asked the public for information on a regular basis.

Jayme's cousin, Angela De Andriano, is managing the gofundme account Jayme is Home - Help Heal her Heart. Smith wrote that the family faces a long road to recover from the ordeal.

China says USA trade talks 'laid foundation' to resolve concerns
Xi promised to fix the trade imbalance issue with the United States by starting to purchase U.S. agricultural products. Over the past two days, talks have been under way between the USA and China to find a way to end the conflict.

Another Aunt, Sue Allard, said she could barely express her joy after learning the news.

Jayme Closs, 13, managed to escape a remote cabin where she had been held against her will after her parents were killed.

He added: 'She did not talk about why or how.

"We want her to feel comfortable and then after a while, she probably won't want the attention so it'll probably come down but it'll be up for a while because we're thrilled", Seelig said. "We don't believe he ... talked with them, had any digital footprint with them".

Patterson, who had no previous criminal record in Wisconsin, is accused of carefully planning his attack - specifically targeting the young teen for reasons that remained unclear.

Both Jayme and the suspect have made initial comments to authorities, he said.

On Saturday, the Facebook group Healing for Jayme Closs posted an update announcing their fundraiser reached $50,000 in just one day.

The cabin is in Eau Claire Acres, a development about 10 miles outside the tiny town of Gordon, nestled in the dense evergreen forests of northwestern Wisconsin that are popular with vacationers in the summer and snowmobilers and ATV riders in the winter.

The teen was said to be in good health and was to be reunited with her extended family late Friday. No one pressed her to talk, he said, adding that Federal Bureau of Investigation agents and doctors advised them to let her speak when she's ready.

Tremblay said she and her administration's hope is that Closs can have a "beautiful childhood".

Patterson was the authorities' only suspect, described as unemployed and a long-time resident of rural Gordon.

He may have worked at another business in Barron but that hasn't been confirmed, the sheriff said.
