Warriors decline to match Cavs offer for McCaw

Up until now, the Warriors have been strong on their stance that they will match any offer from another team.

Golden State was awaiting the electronic arrival of a signed offer sheet before it finalizes its decision on whether it'll match Cleveland's offer and retain McCaw, the source said.

The Cavaliers or Warriors could waive McCaw before January 7 and not be responsible for paying the remainder of his contract.

If the Warriors choose to keep McCaw, it could cost substantially more than just his salary figure because of luxury-tax ramifications. The guard refused to sign his term sheet with the Warriors over the offseason and has been without the team for the entirety of the season.

At The Baltimore Sun , for example, the usual comics and puzzles were not included in Saturday's print edition, the paper tweeted. The Orlando Sentinel subscribers received their papers on time , according to a Tribune Publishing executive.

McCaw did not accept Golden State's $1.7 million qualifying offer and also reportedly rejected a two-year, $5 million contract from the team in early October.

He averaged four points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 57 games last season.

There is no particular reason Patrick McCaw chose not to return to the Golden State Warriors.

The 23-year-old McCaw had been expected to be in the defending National Basketball Association champion's rotation this season but didn't re-sign with the team as a restricted free agent.
