Fascinating Facts About Facebook (INFOGRAPHIC)

I have been on Facebook for several years now, and I can’t get tired of it. Facebook is not only useful for sharing cute pictures of your dog dancing on two feet or for showing your new sports car to your friends, and it has become a powerful way of promoting the products you want to sell.

Whether you want people to visit your blog or whether you want to sell more and more of your products, Facebook is one of the major social media platforms where you can do exactly that.

With over 800 million users, Facebook would have been the 3rd most populated country in the world, so it is safe to say that this social network is the right place to promote your products.

Originally named “Thefacebook”, the now #1 social networking site was launched by Mark Zuckerberg at the age of 23 on February 4, 2004, in a Harvard dorm.

With the help of his college roommates and fellow Harvard University students Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes, they, at first, limited the membership to the University students. Eventually, the membership was expanded to everybody of 13 years of age and up.

In August 2005, the social network dropped the “The” and became “Facebook” after purchasing the domain facebook.com for $200,000.

Now, 1 in every 13 people on Earth is on Facebook, and its users are divided into 30% for the U.S. and 70% for the rest of the world.

With the growing popularity of Facebook, I thought you could be interested in this infographic below where you will learn why this successful platform became one of the top social media sites.
