Dream On: Why Sleeping Is So Important (INFOGRAPHIC)

With our today’s busy life, we often don’t take the time to have a good night sleep. Our busy schedule takes over and sleeping gets at the bottom of our to-do list. We tell ourselves that we can manage and will sleep an extra hour on the weekend.

But let’s face it, even though we think we can go on 4 or 5 hours of sleep a night, the truth is that it’s absolutely insufficient and can seriously impair our judgment.

As a matter of fact, did you know that, according to a Harvard Study, a week of 5-hour sleep nights leaves you with a “drunk sleep” state? Or that spending 24 hours without sleeping is like having a 0.10% blood alcohol concentration, which is considered «legally drunk»?

And that’s not all! Sleep deprivation can have consequences to your health that could be catastrophic, in the long run.

Well, check out this very informative infographic that will cover some of  the mechanics of a good night’s sleep:

  • The five stages of sleep
  • The phenomenon of REM (Rapid Eye Movement)
  • REM and dreams
  • Tricks to get better sleep

You will see that getting enough sleep is crucial to your health and is quite often underrated in importance. Studies show that, despite the fact that the reasons why we need to sleep are not completely unveiled, we should really pay attention when it comes to the importance of getting our beauty sleep.

Do you usually get enough sleep? Do you intend to change your sleeping habits? Feel free to leave your comments below!
